Springer Controls has partnered with Entek Electric Co. Ltd. to offer its line of UL489-approved circuit breakers. Established in 1980, Entek Electric is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of low-voltage circuit breakers. Entek currently offers UL489 breakers in 1, 2, and 3 pole configurations for 6A, 10A, 16A, 20A, 25A, 32A, 40A, 50A, and 63A. All are available with either B or C trip curves.
The single-pole units are rated for 230VAC, and the 2- and 3-pole units are rated for 230VAC and 400VAC. They are also rated for operation in temperatures from -5 °to +55°C (23° to 131° F).
Understanding Entek UL489 Circuit Breakers and Their Safety Features
The breakers come in contact positions, indicating whether they are engaged visually. Full compliance with UL489 and IEC 60898-1 ensures the highest levels of safety.
UL489 breakers are designed with multiple trip protections to offer full branch circuit protection. The first protection is from overload if the system pulls more current than the breaker’s rated capacity. This is typically used for protecting motors, electronics, or data centers from overloads/overheating. They also have a magnetic element that will trip quickly with an excessive current surge, like a short circuit.
The trip curves determine how quickly the breaker will trip once the current limit has been exceeded. C curves are the most commonly stocked and used.
All the Entek UL489 miniature circuit breakers are designed for DIN rail mounting.
