What Is a Pushbutton Control Station?

Pushbutton control stations are a general term for enclosures that include many pilot device operators, such as push buttons, pilot lights, selector switches, and emergency stop buttons. The primary function is to provide necessary controls in a convenient location for the operator.

Understanding Pushbutton Control Stations

An example would be an emergency shutoff next to a gas/petrol pump. This allows the fuel pumps to be shut down quickly during an emergency. A pushbutton control station to raise and lower a roll-up door is located next to the door at the height an operator would use, while the motor and motor controls are above the door. The pushbuttons are in a convenient spot for the operator, while the motor is up high and out of the way.

Pushbutton control stations can also be used as extensions of your existing controls. For example, if you have a roll-up door that needs to be opened from either side, you could install a pushbutton station on either side that performs the same function. A pushbutton control station could accomplish any operation that needs to be performed from separate locations.

As you can imagine, pushbutton control stations can come in many configurations and operators. The type of enclosure, ingress rating, and material can all be customized for indoor or outdoor installations or corrosive environments like salt water.

Common Types of Pushbutton Controls

One-Button Control Options

A single-button control system performs a straightforward function, such as turning equipment on or off, making it ideal for simple operations.

Find Your Pushbutton Control Station at Springer Controls

Springer Controls offers standard pushbutton control station configurations right on our website.  The Emergency Stop Stations and 22mm Pushbutton stations are ideal for end users because they are fitted with IEC standard 22mm operators. As a result, the operators can be replaced with IEC 22mm operators from almost any manufacturer.  For OEM applications looking for a more polished and unique look, the VICTOR Pushbutton control stations use proprietary operators from TER.  These are the same operators as the MIKE pendant, so the VICTOR and MIKE are an excellent choice for designing a custom pendant and pushbutton station using familiar operators.

We also build custom pushbutton control stations based on your specific requirements. Call us at 904-225-0575 or contact us online to discuss your control requirements and configure a pushbutton control station to your specifications.
